Happy Birthday to me! Today is my birthday…I am officially “into” my fifties. And, I have never felt better (well, except for my back which I’m still working on) about myself and where I am in life. It is perfect? No. Are there things I want to do this year? Yes. Am I grateful for what I have and what I have accomplished so far? Yes. Absolutely yes.

So today I took a vacation day, dressed myself up in one of my favorite outfits and planned out a day! I’m heading out to lunch, maybe a little shopping and then Rob and I are going out with great friends. It is going to be a fantastic day!

This outfit is one of my “go-tos.” The dress fits perfectly and has been one I can wear all year round. The boots and turtleneck have gotten me through the winter. A leather or jean jacket make sure it doesn’t get too dressy. In the summer I will ditch the turtleneck and wear it with cute flat boots. Of course I added in another favorite in my wardrobe…my Mio Studio earrings. You have seen these many times! A bright blue crossbody adds the punch of color today and is on-trend mixing black and blue. Some big chunky rings finish it off and I’m ready to go.

So today is the first day of Spring! I am looking forward to tulips, birds waking me up in the morning and warm sun. But, today, the forecast is snow. I’m hoping if we are going to get this that it is the slushy, goes away by tonight kind of snow! “Spring Snow” I think I’ve heard it called.

I had planned for a dress today but instead I’m layered up to keep warm. This vintage sweater is one I’ve had for seasons. I love that the colors are not your typical argyle combination. It pairs perfectly with one of my favorite t-shirts and a cotton striped scarf. Instead of just tucking in my skinny jeans I decided to cuff them today for a little different look. This look would also look great with a funky pair of flats. I’ve worn these boots in numerous posts and continue to love them. They also work great with skirts and dresses so you will see them again! For an added pop of color I’m including my red leather tote.

I have a meeting today and a crazy schedule so I needed to pull something together that was professional looking and comfortable. A versatile jacket can make all the difference. I’ve had this one forever but it still pulls an outfit together. I don’t usually like a belted jacket or top but this one really helps to give me some shape. The distressed black jeans are one of my favorite pairs and they are really comfortable…pairing them with kitten heels helps to keep the overall look work appropriate. The vintage bracelet I chose is just a fun pop of sparkle!

And at the end of today, I will be kicking off the weekend with a facial by the most wonderful friend and esthetician. I’ve been going to her for years and she is truly a talented lady. I think taking care of your skin, and your well-being at the same time, is one of the nicest things you can do for yourself. I highly recommend it for both men and women!

day to night

These black jeans are one of the staples in my wardrobe rotation. They are jet black with a slight suede feel and they are comfortable! Because of these features, they are a perfect day to night pair of jeans and today I will be doing just that. Another staple for me is a great t-shirt. That means a good fit and the softest material I can get. Like the jeans, this shirt delivers…I think it’s actually the softest t-shirt I own. I love the “lips” and the punch of color it adds. It is going to be fantastic in the Summer as well because it is lightweight and will pair equally well with skirts as with shorts. Because the t-shirt is light, I’m adding a basic black jacket instead of a sweater–a good black jacket is something everyone needs in their closet. During the day I will be using my red leather bag but switching up to this fun wristlet for night. Vintage jewelry and cascading gold earrings are the perfect accessories topped off with a polka-dotted scarf for some polish. We walk alot on the weekends and since it snowed Thursday I’m feeling a pair of flats are in order to navigate the sidewalks. These OTK boots are not only the best walking boots but I’ve found this year that the added coverage on my legs really helps to keep me a little warmer–bonus points!
