Wow, sorry for the long delay in posting. Our trip to Germany was so amazing and it seems like we have been running ever since we returned. Our trip wound us through big cities, small towns and an amazing light & sound show. It’s hard to pick a favorite…there were so many great experiences and things to see.
And, the fashion did not disappoint! One trend I saw alot of while there was layering of jewelry. Smaller pieces layered with scarves or longer necklaces. I picked up a cool peace sign charm necklace from a tiny shop in Wiesbaden. I liked it so much I bought it in rose gold and silver! Here it is layered with a choker I already had.
Here’s some options you can pick up locally. They reminded me of the style I saw in Germany.
I wanted to share a few shots of our trip. Some of these were from the Berlin Wall which was an incredibly moving day. Surreal to be standing in those spots looking at that wall which now is covered with art.
We found many neighborhood restaurants in each area we explored. The food did not disappoint! And, this was the first time I tried Sherry (I actually liked it!).
Choker: Free People
Layered Necklaces: Taupe (check out the Fig ad as well…so much fun!)
I’m hoping the sunny warm weather returns this weekend! Enjoy.
Today I’m mixing it up with stripes and a faux fur vest…loving the contrast between “traditional” and funky! These are pieces I’ve had in my wardrobe for years but they still work. A stripe slouchy turtleneck will never steer you wrong–look for different color combinations to update the look. I saw a perfect light gray furry type sweater vest at Festoon this past weekend…it would give you a similar look but a longer line which would be very flattering. They only had one that I saw so get there quick!
I still love my distressed jeans. These are faded, distressed and above the ankle–tripe score! These types of jean are perfect for highlighting a great pair of shoes or boots. The ones I have on today are olive suede and are so comfortable. I wish I could spring for another pair in black because I don’t think this style will ever go out so they would be a good investment piece.
I added my favorite Mio Studio earrings–these are a classic and I truly love them! Paired up with a green crossbody saddlebag this outfit is ready to get me through work but would also be a great weekend day look for running errands.
It’s going to be a wonderfully warm weekend in Lancaster so I hope to see you out and about…I will be running around trying to snatch up some great finds for my family this holiday season. I am so behind! Enjoy
Anyone who has been in my closet knows I have a slight obsession with shoes…boots in particular. When I tried on these snakeskin and leather booties I could not resist them! Besides, I had nothing like them so they were meant to be, right?! Loving them…they are so comfortable to walk in and they look great.
I got these from Plum Bottom in Harrisburg but today they are holding a pop-up shop at Taupe! Don’t miss their Boot Camp where you can get a fabulous pair of boots for the Fall and a great outfit to go with them! It’s happening today so get over there on your lunch break.
Last night Rob and I had so much fun hosting a Craft Beer & Chocolate pairing. The event was for Leadership Lancaster’s Leader’s Circle members and was presented by Craft Tastings. I am a Board member of Leadership Lancaster and Rob and I co-chair the Leader’s Circle group…it is a great organization connecting leaders in our community. This tasting was put together by our friend Greg Orth who walked us through the various beer and chocolate pairings. It is so amazing how much the flavors change when combined!
So, this was a day I needed an outfit to get me through work and right into this event. A little black dress was exactly what I needed and this one is perfect. It is comfortable and stylish and can easily switch gears to get you from one thing into another. I tossed on a distressed jean jacket and low heeled boots for my day at the office. Then when I got home, I lost the jacket, switched up my boots and was ready to greet our guests for a fun night! Check out the racerback styling of the back. It’s such a versatile look and I know this dress will carry me well into Fall by simply adding a long sleeve t-shirt or sweater.
I kept my jewelry pretty simple so I wouldn’t need to change it…a favorite pair of earrings and a couple of statement rings were all I needed!
If you’re looking for something different to do as a fundraiser or just a night together with friends, give the Craft Beer & Chocolate Pairing a try–you will not be disappointed. Even your non-beer drinkers will enjoy it and find something they like (I did!). And please check out Leadership Lancaster. Have a fantastic weekend…enjoy!
Of course as soon as I switched around my closet the weather did an about-face and turned cold again. There are my sweaters all hanging up top out of reach! So, I’m having to get a little creative with clothes I have ready for more summer-like weather.
I recently added this cool long vest to my wardrobe for the summer. Today I’ve paired a long sleeve v-neck under it but once it warms back up I will probably just use a tank or cami under it. I like the crisp white color and I think it will become a staple both for going out and wearing to work. And, it has pockets–I love pockets! To offset the tailored lines of the vest, I added this pair of distressed jeans. A little funk with the fringe leather bag and big earrings can take this outfit from the office to drinks at happy hour with no problem. I choose to wear boots but this would also work really well with heels.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and you were able to share it with family and friends.
Not that we haven’t been hearing about holiday shopping since before Halloween, but today marks the “official” start of the holiday shopping craziness! This year I don’t have alot of shopping to do…just a few things to pick up for my niece and nephew who are getting older and have very specific “wish lists.” Bummer!
However, since I am on a few days vacation I will be getting out today to take in the crowds and enjoy the holiday spirit. Besides, I really need to walk after all the eating yesterday!! So, comfort (and style) will be key. I’m pairing skinny distressed jeans with a comfortable graphic t-shirt. Low-heeled booties with a fun pattern add some interest and will allow me to comfortably walk all day. Since I’m not on the East Coast right now, I’m tossing on a long flowy sweater for impact. My Jennifer Haley fringe crossbody bag adds the right amount of style to finish off the outfit. And, even though I am away, my Mio Studio earrings are always on hand along with my Stella and Dot bracelets!
Please try to save some of your shopping for Saturday and support Small Business Saturday in Lancaster or in whatever city you might be in this holiday weekend. The local shops really make all the difference and they need everyone’s support!
Enjoy the weekend and keep warm if you’re on the East Coast!
It’s been said a million times and a million different ways, but in the end, it is true…you do only live once! This is a saying that is ringing particularly close to home for my family right now and so for today’s post I am taking a little different route than I normally do.
Last night I was thrilled to be asked to participate in a Pop-Up Holiday Style show hosted at Mercedes-Benz of Lancaster. One of my local favorites, Taupe, invited a great group of women to be models during the event and I was one of them. It was so fun to meet the other woman and spend time with my sister-in-law and her mother who were also modeling. We were treated to showcasing some of the most beautiful clothing, jewelry and furs while surrounded by gorgeous cars! It was such fun to talk with the people attending while helping to promote these great businesses in Lancaster.
And, it struck me, we all get so busy (especially this time of the year) with life. We forget to cut ourselves some slack and do something nice just for you once in a while. We work hard, we juggle alot and we try to give back where we can but often we feel it’s not enough. Whether it’s time to yourself, a new lipstick, that outfit you’ve been watching or an amazing fur…you should do it. Be good to yourself. You will be amazed at how you feel and how good it makes everyone else around you feel too.
Get out and enjoy this weekend and if you can, please stop in and support some of these wonderful businesses in Lancaster! A special thanks to my husband Rob for being there to support us and take pictures while working his own style!
(Ok, this fur below was truly amazing I have to say!)
I have to say I’ve recently become a huge fan of the jumpsuit! I picked up a few for the summer and loved how easy they made getting dressed. I started looking for my Fall replacements and was pleased to find there are still so many options…I picked up a great geometric pattern jumpsuit recently. I’ll be wearing that to a fundraising event supporting a friend’s company tonight. Look for pics later this evening! I also picked up this all black version made of the softest cotton ever–I know already this one is going to become a favorite.
For work, I would pull on a sweater or add a jacket. The low cut front makes it very elegant for an evening out. A simple black leather jacket is all you need to pull an evening look together. I kept the jewelry pretty simple today choosing to pair oversized earrings with a custom-made ring and a vintage ring. The bright blue leather clutch adds just the right punch to the overall outfit. These shoes look crazy high but they are truly comfortable and they always make a statement.
Today’s busy schedule calls for easy movement and comfort. This bamboo skirt is just the piece to carry me through the day and maybe out tonight! The fit is perfect and it’s so soft and comfortable. I topped it with a simple sweater that is slightly boxy to balance the straight lines of the skirt. One of my go-to pair of booties will make meetings and deliveries a breeze today but still look pulled together. Funky earrings and layered necklace start off my jewelry. I finished with a vintage bracelet and handmade ring. I’m adding a brown leather day clutch to make the outfit easy and stylish. Happy Friday everyone!
