I’ve been working for the past few days from LA and thought I would share a little of what we’ve been doing. This is one of my favorite places to be. The weather is always beautiful, there is so much to do, and the food is incredible.

We started out with a once-in-a-lifetime performance at the Hollywood Bowl. This iconic venue for concerts hosted Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Steven Tyler, Billy Gibbons and Beth Hart. At the end they all were on stage performing Purple Rain…it was so moving. We had box seats, dead center and for this gig you could bring in your own alcohol which was nice. We sprung for a catered meal which was definitely the way to go!

We’ve been staying in AirBNBs now when we’re here. This time we’re in the Hollywood Hills in a fun bungalow with 40+ steps to reach it. It’s tucked on the side of a hill with challenging parking spots but gorgeous views. What has surprised me is the amount of wildlife…I walked out yesterday to find a doe and her baby in the side yard (I couldn’t get my phone out quick enough for a picture!) and hummingbirds everywhere. I’ve never seen one land but they actually do! A short walk down the hill leads to a quaint neighborhood general store where you can get everything from an espresso to wine to toilet paper!

I’m not sure if this little calico kitty is part of the “main house” but she kept me company most of the day Friday while I was working on the patio. She is very friendly and has the most amazing green eyes–I’m sorry the picture doesn’t do her

Last night we went to a jazz club for dinner…I had a spicy vodka cocktail with fresh blackberries, we shared tuna ceviche and lamb kabobs (I did not partake in those!) and then I had spaghetti squash with grilled veggies and Rob had salmon. Music was great, crowd was fun.

Today is our last day here and we’re going to start with a walk to the general store for coffee and sweets and then we might hit a museum or outdoor market. The sun is already streaming in our windows so I’d better get moving!

Enjoy your weekend!

I have been on the jumpsuit bandwagon since last year…they are so easy! It’s practically like a dress in that all you need to do is add a few key accessories and you are good to go. This one is a change for me because I’m trying a run at culottes. I really think this pant style works best on someone who is taller than me but I’m adding some platform boots to help make up for it! Another option would be a great pair of pointed toe shoes. And, for all my regular readers…no, this is not what I’m actually wearing while working from Lancaster.

Today I wanted to take a little liberty to plug an event our building is hosting on Saturday to benefit Music for Everyone (MFE). It’s a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to making sure music stays in our local schools and community. For the second year in a row we are holding the Warehouse Wandering at the Box Company Flats. This event brings the neighborhood and community together for a night of fantastic music (4 bands and a DJ this year) and pairs them with local artists in a converted warehouse space. Guests can roam through 4 floors listening to the music; grabbing a drink and great food and purchasing art. Proceeds from the sales that night keep music flowing in Lancaster County! The combination of art and music is near and dear to both Rob and I so it was easy for us to get behind the event and help make it happen. It’s also a night to dress up and have a good time…this is where the jumpsuit comes in!

I hope you are enjoying the warm weather we’ve been getting here in Lancaster as much as I have been. Have a great weekend and please consider giving back and getting involved in your community in anyway that makes sense for you–you can make a difference!  Enjoy…

the weekend: new boots!

Are you as addicted to boots as I am? I’m really not sure I can ever have too many! I picked up this pair of silvery gray Miista boots which will carry me right through the Fall. I decided to pair them with this lace dress to make it not look so formal. Perfect date night outfit!

the weekend: tour de france

Started off the weekend with a Tour de France breakfast gathering! Had a great morning with a few friends watching Stage 14 of the race, eating some yummy local goodies and getting a little dressed up…

If you ever get to Lancaster, must see stops would include Central Market for items like the fresh berries, yogurt, jams and granola. A favorite breakfast stop for Rob and I (see Rob’s debut in this blog below) on Saturdays is La Dolce Vita where we get freshly made biscotti, croissants and cookies topped off with a latte. El Jardin Flowers which is just around the corner from us made the breakfast shine with beautiful sunflowers!
