It’s a special thing to have a custom pair of jeans. Uniquely your own. And, adding patches is the perfect way to show your style.
This project was so fun to pull together. My choice in jeans was a basic boyfriend style…personally, I think these work best. A wider leg and slouchy feel keeps the patches looking on-point and current. Patches would also look amazing on a much wider leg and cropped style boyfriend jean, especially if you are taller. For me, I feel too short to wear that style well—LOL!
Rob connected me with Laura Roberts who was the master behind sewing and distressing the jeans. We met at Root of Lancaster to pick out fabric swatches. This was as fun as picking out paper for me! I loved being able to touch all the swatches. She had a great stack of fabrics in all colors and patterns to choose from. We rifled through those pulling out whatever spoke to me at the moment. Amazingly, they all really went together nicely!
We talked about distressing the jeans and whether the patches would be on top of the jeans, with distinct stitching or peeking out from tears. I didn’t see the jeans again until they were done.
They ended up the perfect balance of patches on top and some peeking out from pockets and tears.
I think pairing heels with these jeans is the way to go. It keeps the look pulled together. Although, on the right person a good pair of converse sneakers would work as well for a more casual feel.
There will never be another pair exactly like these! If you’re interested in a pair for yourself, or another creation by Laura, check out her Etsy site, The Pink Phoenix, when it launches. Enjoy…
