I thought last week was cold but it’s got nothin’ on today! It was a balmy -10 with the wind chill this morning. So, I figured it would be best to wrap myself up in something cozy.
This warm brown wrap sweater does the trick for today. It’s really versatile and can be worn open or belted. I prefer it belted because I like it to make a little bit of a waist and give me some shape! My go-to black t is layered underneath and finished with skinny jeans. The boots were a fun score when I was in LA. I love the pocket detail on the sides and the cool pointed toe.
I added some vintage and new rings, a cuff and fabulous earrings that cascade down to the sweater. When I need to head out today, I’ll be bundling up in this leopard print jacket topped off with an orange plaid blanket scarf…this coat is so warm. None of my new coats are as warm as this vintage one. Love it!
I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and is relaxing with leftovers! The day after Christmas always seems like a perfect day for turkey sandwiches, movies and chillin’ with a good book or magazine.
I wanted to share with you some holiday looks from recent days. For a casual, yet funky look I pulled together skinny (reminds me not to eat too much pie!) distressed jeans, a basic black t-shirt and fun, furry vest. Sometimes vests can be a little overwhelming so to give myself a little shape, I simply belted it. I used a black leather belt so it would be a subtle accent and not draw attention to my waist. My favorite pair of booties add some height without being too much for a casual night out. A neutral tan leather clutch works well if you’re traveling and can be reused with several outfits as needed. Simple silver cascading hoop earrings and stacked bracelets finish off the look.
For Christmas Eve I wore this burgundy faux leather shift. We were driving most of the day so this was comfortable and easy. I arrived looking great with no additional prep needed before church! I simply switched out my day bag for this leopard print clutch and added OTK boots for some warmth. This black jacket dresses it up but I also pair this with a black leather jacket for some edge. At the last-minute I pulled on a plaid infinity scarf (not pictured here but shown in my “blues” post a few weeks ago) to keep my neck warm and add some interest. A thick cuff, vintage red ring and long dangle earrings were all that was needed for the finishing touches.

Well, the warm glow of California is wearing off I’m sad to say. It is cold here on the East Coast and certainly feeling like winter weather. So, I’ve been looking for something cozy…these fingerless gloves fit the bill. They are so warm and I love that they were handmade. They are going to look awesome with my black leather jacket too. This sweater is so warm and comfy and if you need more warmth, it’s easy to layer a t-shirt or tank under it without adding any bulk. The fringe on the bottom is fun and makes it more than just your usual black sweater. This would also look great with a sequins skirt for a holiday party or night out. I slipped on this easy mini (this thing is fantastic)–it packs well (made the trip to LA) without wrinkling and can be worn with or without tights. I chose to pair it with some gray OTK socks in a cableknit. Even though I’m not wearing tights, it amazes me how warm socks like this can keep your legs. When paired with high boots they are all the better. I finished the look off with vintage earrings and ring and a large gold cuff. The topper of the outfit is the beautiful red leather bag. I can carry it by the handle, put it over my shoulder or wear it as a crossbody. It has plenty of pockets and can hold everything you need in a day. The leather is so wonderful…this would make a great gift for those of you still looking!
I have debated a cape purchase for a couple of seasons now…I love my ponchos so I figured I would love a cape. Especially in the Fall when it just starts getting colder at night. So, I found one I liked and took the plunge! This cape has an orange chevron pattern on it with pink satin lining. Even though I don’t like the color pink, the contrast in the colors is fun and energizing even if I am the only one who really sees the inside. The attention to detail though is wonderful from the cool buttons and stitching to the amazing bag it came in. Seriously, how can you not love a purchase that comes in a cool black bag on a hanger so it’s all ready to go when you get it!! Oh–it has zippered pockets and was handmade. If you are Lucky Mag subscriber, there is a deal in the October (pretty sure it was this one) issue.
You could wear a cape with anything and dress it up or down. Today, I chose a pair of off-black skinny jeans and a favorite t-shirt. I’m still having trouble with my back so flat boots were in order. I kept everything else simple…a vintage ring and bag matched up with a wide cuff and handmade earrings that I have had forever.
It has started to feel like Fall here in PA, especially in the mornings. I can’t bring myself to pull on a pair of tights yet so I find wearing knee-high boots helps keep my legs warmer. This pair of black leather boots give just the right amount of polish to a flirty faux leather skirt. I pulled on one of my staples–a black cami under this cute gray burnout polka dot sweater (also comes in pink). Lately, I’ve been mixing up my jewelry and combining gold and silver as well as old and new. My Mio Studio earrings helped kick that off today. What I love about this pair is that they really do go with anything–dressy or casual. I paired a fox bracelet with a stack of gray wire bracelets and my cherished flower bracelet that was my grandmother’s. This large tote not only works for the office but is great for weekends and traveling! It’s a beautiful burnt gold color with leather accents.
Graphic prints are all over the place this Fall. Even though you might think these will only work on the weekend, I think you can easily bring them into the office. For example this sweater I’m wearing. It can be paired with jeans as I have it here for an easy day at your desk or put it together with a pencil skirt and booties and you can transition to a meeting. I tossed on a black tank because it’s cropped and I felt with the lower rise jeans I need a little extra coverage! These jeans are extremely comfortable and are going hold up for the entire day. I added in one of my favorite pairs of booties for some color and then some vintage jewelry. The cocktail ring plays off the bootie color and is just beautiful in its simplicity. The pearl bracelet is also vintage but still works well with the modern handmade silver hoop earrings. Don’t be afraid to mix up vintage and new, modern and traditional! The overall look is finished off with a black vintage bag.
I’m still on a printed t-shirt kick, and the one for today is a new addition. I love that it’s lighthearted, fun and most importantly soft. Don’t you just hate stiff t-shirts? I paired it with this skater-style skirt and a pair of my favorite earrings (handmade in Lancaster by some very talented ladies). I wasn’t sure how much I would wear this skirt when I first got it but I have found so many uses for it. For the Fall I’m planning to pair it with high boots and a cropped sweater. To keep it easy moving for a busy day I slipped on these tan leather booties. My white vintage purse is big enough to carry what I need for the day and is a fun pop against the black skirt. My ring today is pearls sewn in leather and that is combined with a stack of bracelets.
A warm summer work day calls for trendy casual that keeps you moving, comfortable and stylish all at once. I pulled together this printed t-shirt and distressed jeans to get my day going. I have to say, I am obsessing about printed t-shirts right now and am always on the hunt for one. To keep the outfit from being too casual for meetings, I added a cool pair of soft peach heels and a black jacket. The patent leather vintage bag is fun and interesting. Round pearl earrings are a modern take on hoops and I put those together with a vintage bracelet and a foxy bangle.
